Biographies
Carolyn Scanniello
Founder/Instructor
Started our SAT/ACT business in 1990. She is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a BA in History and a Masters of Education specializing in learning disabilities. She has tutored SAT/ACT preparation skills individually and in small groups for over 25 years. Carolyn created our unique curriculum, provides all instructor training and lectures occasionally on the subject of SAT/ACT preparation. She also personally conducts all GRE, SSAT and GMAT preparation sessions
Ann Long
Schedule Management
Started with CSS in 2018. She is a graduate of the College of William & Mary with a BA in Psychology. Since graduating from college, Ann has worked as an administrator for several non-profits and her local church.
Chris Scanniello
Owner/Instructor
Joined the organization in 2009. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering. After 11+ years in the semiconductor industry working as a software engineer, he returned to student instruction. He was a private tutor in both high school and college. He conducts all sections of the Regular and Honors SAT and ACT classes (group and individual) as well as works with students in all other classes offered. He also provides instructor training.
Jamie Roy
Customer Information Management
Started with our organization in 2014. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a BA in Anthropology. After working as a Plan Administrator for an executive benefits firm and an Outreach and Enrollment Specialist for a nonprofit, she began working here at CSS Tutoring. She handles incoming calls related to customer inquiries, scheduling and general services.
Chris Perry
Instructor
Started with our organization in 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a BS in Business Administration. Chris has over 10 years of business experience. He has corporate training experience and conducts the Pre-Strategy Math Skills Review course and all sections of the Regular and Honors SAT and ACT classes (group and individual).
Eli Gerstenlauer
Instructor
Eli started with the organization in 2023. He is a graduate of Oberlin College with a BA in Music History and Theory, and of Lesley University with a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. He also completed the Shady Hill Teacher Training Course and the Citizen Schools National Teaching Fellowship. Eli has 17 years of teaching and tutoring experience, including as the 6th grade head teacher at The Learning Project Elementary School in Boston, MA, and as a tutor at Advantage Testing of Boston. He conducts SAT, ACT, and SSAT classes (group and individual).
